Firm Profile Headed by Attorney P. Michael Khosla, The Khosla Immigration Law Group, P.C., is a full-service corporate business immigration law firm in existence since 1995.
Our roots go back to Peoria, Illinois, where the law firm originated as a small office in downtown Peoria, IL across from the Caterpillar World Headquarters, where Attorney Khosla used to work as an in-house attorney for CAT in the patent department on the 6th floor during 9 am-5 pm on Adams Street, and worked vigorously to grow his private practice in Immigration Law during the hours outside of the traditional 9-5 hours in his small office in the Twin Towers on SW Jefferson, a brisk 2 minute walk from Adams Street. Being an engineer himself (with BS and MS Degrees in Chem. Engg.) and having several years of working experience at CAT, both as an Engineer and a Lawyer, and having a thorough knowledge of the CAT products and processes, Mr. Khosla's privare practice grew quickly because he was able to relate to his H-1B and Green Card clients, most of whom were engineers working at CAT through various contracting companies and vendors to CAT in Peoria. In due course, after wearing two hats for almost 3 years, Mr. Khosla retired from Caterpillar after almost 10 years with the company to pursue private practice.

Attorney P. Michael Khosla prepares or supervises the preparation and reviews all cases himself with the assistance of his team members. Each and every case is thoroughly reviewed by Attorney Khosla, no matter how big or small, before it is filed. This is a system Attorney Khosla has followed from day one, since 1995, and this is the hallmark of his legal practice and the basis of his reputation for quality.
Because we value quality over quantity, we are selective in the number of cases that we accept and the clients we chose to accept cases from. We will accept meritorious cases and pursue them vigorously, ethically, maintaining our duty of care to our clients and our duty of candor towards the USCIS, USDOL, Dept. of State, SWAs and other administrative bodies. Attorney P. Michael Khosla, by his very nature, being an immigrant, has real compassion for his fellow immigrants and treats each and every case with a human touch. At the end of the day, each case represents a human being having specific career goals and personal aspirations, and for a client to place their trust in a lawyer and to count their lawyer as an integral part of their life during the tough period of obtaining lawful work status in the United States, is a privilege and an honor. Attorney P. Michael Khosla has a J.D. Degree (Juris Doctor-Law Degree) from University of Akron - School of Law, Akron Ohio (1995), an M.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Akron, Akron, Ohio (1988), and a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India (1984). Attorney P. Michael Khosla is a member of several professional associations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association; the American Bar Association – National and Illinois Sections; and the Illinois State Bar Association and a long term member of the CHICAGO BAR Association. Attorney P. Michael Khosla is an attorney and a member in good standing of the Illinois State Supreme Court and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois since 1995 to present. Attorney P. Michael Khosla has been practicing exclusively US immigration law in his private practice since 1995 and he has 15 years of exclusively business immigration law experience (H1, H4, L1, L2, TN1, TN2, B1, Employment Based Green Card through PERM (and the old Traditional and RIR (Reduction in Recruitment) Alien Labor Certifications, EB1 (Outstanding Researcher/Professor and Extraordinary Ability Alien), EB2 and EB3 Alien Labor Certification), and EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). A small % of the immigration law cases handled by Attorney Khosla fall into related family-based immigration matters, mostly limited to his existing business clients (Immediate Relative of US Citizen Green Card Petitions, Fiancee Visa (K1) and Spouse Visa (K3) matters, US Citizenship though Naturalization, and Family Based Adjustment of Status, Advance Parole, Work Authorization. We limit the acceptance for representation of these type of cases only to our limited number of existing business clients and a few select new professional clients. Even so, over the course of 20+ years we have handled well over 1000+ family based cases, with varying levels of complexities, all the way from simple I-130s by USCs for spouses, to complex I-751 self petitions in cases involving divorce in the first 2 years of marriage, to cases involving criminal issues, moral turpitude, and cases involving in-person representation at the local office. In the past, in addition to private practice in Immigration Law, Attorney Mike Khosla had also served as an in-house Corporate Attorney (Patent Attorney and Intellectual Property Counsel) in the Corporate Legal Departments in two major international Fortune 25 companies in the United States: (i) Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Illinois (www.cat.com) (almost 3 years from 5/1995-12/1997); and (ii) Proctor & Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio (www.pg.com) (2 years from 1/1998 to 12/1999). From 8/1992 to 4/1995 (about 3 years), Mr. Khosla worked as a Patent Agent for Caterpillar, Inc. in the Patent Department, which was a part of the Corporate Legal Department at Caterpillar. A large volume of Mr. Khosla's work product (over 100 U.S. patent applications were prepared, filed, and prosecuted by Mr. Khosla and granted by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office) during his 5 combined years of working as a Patent Attorney and Patent Counsel at Caterpillar (Peoria) and P&G (Cincinnati). A quick visit to www.uspto.gov and a quick search under KHOSLA (as attorney or agent) and CATERPILLAR or PROCTER & GAMBLE (as assignee) will bring up vast volume of United States Patents written and prosecuted by Attorney Khosla before the USPTO. These U.S. Patents are in the form of HTML and PDF files with Mr. Khosla as the Attorney of Record on the front page of the US Patent. (For those that have wondered what the "P" in "P. Michael Khosla" stands for, its Pankaj, and this appears on most U.S. Patents, given that Mr. Khosla's full name appeared on these documents as it was registered with the US Patent Office. Mr. Khosla continues to maintain his US Patent Bar Membership (#37,978). The US Patent Bar is a specialty that only those lawyers with technical degrees can sit for, and the Patent Bar Exam is usually offered once a year, with typical nationwide pass rates of 30%. Mr, Khosla passed the Patent Bar in 1992 on the first attempt. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Khosla worked as a Project Engineer for Caterpillar Inc. from 1988-1992, working in the area of Chemical Products such as polyurethane components and processes for filter manufacturing, hydraulic cylinder shaft seals, natural rubber products and compositions for undercarriage components in construction equipment, and synthetic polymers for friction materials (F37X) for transmissions of large earthmoving equipment made by Caterpillar (www.cat.com).
From 1985 to 1988 Mr. Khosla worked on his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Akron, and after finishing the MS degree, he spent 1 semester as a Ph.D. candidate in the Dept of Polymer Engineering at University of Akron, before quitting the academia and joining CAT as an Engineer in 1988. Track Record H-1B Since 1995, Attorney Khosla has successfully handled several thousand H-1B1 cases(with virtually a 100% success rate)(the total number of denials are < 10 out of thousands of H-1Bs handled)
Green Card Attorney Khosla has filed and/or prosecuted several thousand Alien Labor Certifications for Employment-Based Green Card(with virtually a 100% success rate on PERM, Regular, Limited Review and Reduction In Recruitment (RIR) Alien Labor Certifications that have been fully adjudicated so far) and hundreds of National Interest Waiver petitions (EB2) and Extraordinary Ability and Outstanding Researcher/Professor petitions (EB1) (again, with almost a 100% success rate). L-1, TN, E-3, B1 Attorney Mike Khosla has also handled hundreds of L-1A and L-1B petitions for Intra-company Transferees and TN-1 and TN-2 (NAFTA based work visas for Canadians and Mexicans) and B1 visas for business visitors.
Attorney Khosla has handled several E-3 work visas for Australians (with a 100% approval rate) since its inception a few years ago. Since business related green card proceedings are highly adversarial proceedings before the State Agency, USDOL and USCIS, a successful track record is something to consider, because it is reflective of a few things:(i) that the lawyer is pretty selective about the type of cases that he accepts, the quality of a case being determined on the basis of an early assessment of its potential merits so that frivolous filings are avoided at all costs; (ii) the quality of a lawyer’s work product, legal judgment and in constructing a winning case. However, under no circumstances is this track record any guarantee or indication of future outcomes, because in the practice of law, the outcome of each case is predicated on its merits. Representation of Clients all over the United States Our law office can represent clients located anywhere within or outside the U.S, on U.S. immigration matters. In fact, we use all the electronic modes of communication (phone, fax, scanner, email (very heavily), and of course the ever-reliable FEDEX to communicate with our clients and with the various federal agencies. This nationwide representation is possible due to the fact that immigration law is strictly federal in nature. No specific state in the U.S. is allowed to pass any legislation in connection with U.S. immigration matters under the Doctrine of Preemption. Countries where our Clients have come from, since 1995 Attorney Mike Khosla is himself an immigrant to the U.S., having come here about 24 years ago on an F-1 student visa from Bombay, India, to pursue an MS Chemical Engineering Degree, eventually becoming a U.S. Citizen in 1992.We are proud to announce that The Khosla Immigration Law Group, P.C., has represented and counseled thousands of clients in one immigration matter or another before either the USCIS, the USDOL or the DOS, from a vast majority of states (we have filed cases and represented client in at least 45 US states) in the United States and from about 55-60different countries. This list of about 55-60 countries spans countries from A-V and continues to grow!
